Monthly IT Report
Period: [Month Year] — e.g. April 2026 Prepared by: [Your MSP Name] Prepared for: [Client Contact Name], [Client Company Name] Date issued: [Date]
Section 01 Executive Summary
Write 3–4 sentences in plain English for the business owner. Cover: (1) overall status this month, (2) one notable item — an incident resolved, a project completed, or a risk addressed, and (3) what the client should take away heading into next month. Avoid technical jargon. Assume the reader does not manage IT day-to-day.

This month, [Client Company Name]'s IT environment operated [within normal parameters / with one notable incident described below]. [Describe the key event or accomplishment in one sentence — e.g., "We completed the rollout of multi-factor authentication across all 28 user accounts, closing a gap identified in last month's security review."]

[Describe any service desk highlights or context — e.g., "Ticket volume was up slightly this month due to the new employee onboarding, but all issues were resolved within SLA."]

[Close with a forward-looking note — e.g., "Heading into May, we will begin the server refresh scoped in Q1. No action is required from your side at this time."]

Section 02 Service Desk Performance
Pull these numbers from your PSA (ConnectWise, Autotask, Halo, etc.). "Target" should reflect what you committed to in the client's service agreement. If no target is set, use your internal benchmark. Highlight any metric that missed target with a brief note in a follow-up row.
Metric This Month Last Month Target
Tickets Opened [Number] [Number]
Tickets Resolved [Number] [Number]
Avg. Response Time [e.g. 1h 12m] [e.g. 1h 28m] [e.g. <2h]

First Call Resolution [e.g. 72%] [e.g. 68%] [e.g. 70%]
Section 03 Security and Compliance
Pull threat and patch data from your RMM (NinjaRMM, Datto RMM, N-able, etc.) and your endpoint protection platform. "Critical Vulnerabilities Resolved" means vulnerabilities that were open at the start of the month and are now closed. Add a brief note for any metric that was below target.

Section 04 Backup and Continuity
Pull from your backup platform's reporting dashboard. For "Failures (and resolution)," describe each failure briefly — what failed, when it was detected, and how it was resolved. Recovery tests should be scheduled at least quarterly; if none ran this month, note the date of the last completed test.

Section 05 Notes and Next Steps
Use this section for anything not captured above: upcoming projects, budget items to discuss, changes to the client's environment, or reminders about renewals and scheduled maintenance. Keep it brief. Each item should have a clear owner and a target date where applicable.

[Add any notes, upcoming work, action items, or reminders here. Example: "Server refresh scheduled for 14 May — no downtime expected. License renewal for Microsoft 365 due 30 June — quote will follow separately."]
