How to Get Client Reports

Autotask PSA tracks every ticket, contract hour, and SLA result across your client base. Getting that data into a formatted monthly client report means choosing between three approaches: Autotask LiveReports, manual CSV export and formatting, or automated delivery through a third-party layer. Three ways to get reports out of Autotask

Option 1

How it works

  1. Go to Reports in the left navigation menu
  2. Expand the report category folder and open the LiveReports section
  3. Click a report name to run it; a filter window may appear
  4. In the filter window, set Account = [client name] and date range to last month, then click OK
  5. When the report renders, click the Export Report icon in the toolbar
  6. Choose PDF or Excel as the output format
  7. Attach the file to an email and send to your client manually
Time: 30–90 min per client per month
Best for: Internal ops reviews, not client-facing delivery
Limitation: No client branding, no automated delivery, and the output format is built for internal use not business owner review

Manual export and formatting

How it works

  1. Go to Tickets in Autotask, filter by Account and set date range to last month
  2. Click Export to download the ticket list as CSV
  3. Open the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets
  4. Build a summary: total tickets, average response time, SLA compliance rate, hours billed
  5. Add a chart showing ticket volume trend for the month
  6. Write a 2–3 sentence narrative summarizing the month
  7. Apply your logo and brand colors, then export as PDF
  8. Email the PDF to each client separately
Time: 2–4 hours per client per month
Best for: MSPs with 1–3 clients and a dedicated resource
Limitation: Does not scale. Quality varies month to month. Someone has to do it every month without fail.
